Behind the Music

This is a behind the scenes gallery from our LP recording sessions at Vulcanic Studioz with Astro Lizard Records. Six of the songs on the LP were written when we started recording, and the rest we created while in the studio including Bad Seed, and Let It Die.

We wanted to record the entire album to tape, which if you are not familiar with the process means perfect takes with no cuts. The sound that comes from this style of recording is worth the hassle as you will hear on our New release. The imperfections are what make recordings like this worth it. Tony and Matt were the first to do their tracks with Vulcho and Rachel playing and singing along. After the base and drums were completely finished Vulcho began by laying down the guitar tracks with just the rhythms setting a solid ground for the vocals. After working to set an even pace and working with Brad on simplifying some parts it was ready for vocals. Lastly Rachel Anne put her vocals in and then her counter melodies and harmonies. After everything was laid down Vulcho came. back in and put his guitar solos and complex guitar melodies in over the top for the final cut.  We tracked it as live as possible since the movement and dynamics of our live performances are hard to capture in a studio setting. We grew as we recorded and it really influenced the way we play live. We are always learning and changing as we grow as a group and you can really feel that as you listen to this album and how far it has come from our EP.

We are beyond excited with the way the music came out in this recording, we and can’t wait to share it with you!
